Verticordia nitens

About this plant

Known as the “Christmas Morrison” this erect shrub reaches 2m high with stunning, dense masses of orange flowers from October to December, even stretching to February in the right conditions. With a strong preference for full sun and sandy soils, this Verticordia makes a hardy and beautiful addition to the verge once established, but young plants can be temperamental to start. Found around Perth on the Swan Coastal Plain, they were commonly seen alongside Nuytsia Floribunda (WA Christmas Tree), making for incredible back-to-back orange floral displays during summer. “Kotyeningara” to the Noongar peoples this scented flower makes an excellent preserved or cut flower.
